The 9th National Championships, which took place from 27 – 30 June at Kampala Parents School, Uganda, featured over 600 swimmers representing 20 teams from across the country. Spanning four days, the championships saw swimmers compete in a range of disciplines in U10, U11-U12, U15-16 and 18+ age categories.
Peterson, who has been swimming since the age of five, is part of the College’s Performance Swim Squad and swims for Bishop’s Stortford Swimming Club. At the championships, Peterson was entered into 11 individual events, and two relay events, in which he gained a podium place in every event, including gold in the 50m Freestyle, 50m Backstroke, 50m Breaststroke, and 100m Freestyle. In doing so, he also broke the Uganda national age group records for the 50m Freestyle with a time of 24.94 seconds, the 50m Breaststroke with a time of 31.47 seconds, and 50m Backstroke with a time of 28.37 seconds. His achievements are outstanding and testament to the hard work and commitment he puts in at training, and we cannot wait to watch his swimming journey unfold even more in the future.”
