Bishop’s Stortford College is once again celebrating the talents of its A Level students, further cementing its position as a leading co-educational independent day and boarding school for students aged three to 18.
The College’s Class of 2024 received outstanding A Level results on Thursday 15 August, amid a day of celebration for students, their families, and College staff.
With 94% of students achieving A*-C and 18% of all grades awarded A*, the College’s A Level results are once again impressive. The point score per student has increased from 128.5 in 2023 to 131 this year. While 24 of the cohort achieved straight A*-A grades, there are also many moments of pride and personal success stories.
The modern education the College delivers, focuses on academic excellence that nurtures values and leadership qualities in every student. It offers a holistic education, which is reflected not just by the fantastic A Level results, but also success and accolades across sport and the performing arts with students encouraged to embrace the opportunities available.
There are many success stories being celebrated at the College today, and it is especially pleasing to see the accomplishments of the students that have led different areas of College life.
Harry B, 1st XI boys’ hockey captain, achieved a staggering four A*s, whilst Millie A, 1st XI girls’ hockey captain, achieved three A*s; both are now looking forward to progressing to the University of Cambridge and the University of St Andrews respectively. 1st VII netball captain, Chloe C, who joined the College for her Sixth Form, settled into College life with ease and is today celebrating AAB and an Army Scholarship at the University of St Andrews to study Neuroscience.
Edward C also progresses to the University of Cambridge to read English, having secured three A*s. Through his role as Head Prefect, Edward contributed significantly to life at the College, particularly in music and drama, leading his House to victory in the annual House Music competition. Talented musician and Music Prefect, Peggy S, achieved A*A*A and will be going to London School of Economics to study Finance. Charity Prefect and Head of House, Jake A, also achieved four A*s, paving the way to study medicine at the University of Cambridge.
The College aspires for its students to progress to the best universities in the world and the College is delighted that Dan E has secured a Music Scholarship to Berklee College of Music in America. Also embarking on study in the USA is Dasha K who joined the College as an HMC Ukraine Scholar and is now looking forward to studying at the University of Pennsylvania on a full scholarship after achieving three A*s.
Commenting on the success of the students’ achievements, John Maguire, College Head, said, “We know that together, qualifications and qualities are what an education for today and tomorrow must deliver, and we are delighted by our A Level results. We are renowned for our caring ethos that nurtures the interests and talents of each individual student, and today, we celebrate every one of these success stories. It is a mark of the diverse talents of our students that they are able to achieve these fantastic results while also developing leadership qualities through their extra-curricular interests.”
