Our U13 boys’ football team is celebrating after qualifying for the IAPS national finals. The team, comprising Zack H-F, Freddie O’B (captain), Max D, Jenson R, Remi P, Raffi P, Harry C, Henry H, and AJ W-F, successfully competed in the U13 IAPS regional tournament at the College on 30 September, and now progresses to the national finals at Summer Fields, Oxford, on 13 November.
The team played well in the closely fought group stages, comprising 21 teams, before resounding wins in both their quarter and semi-final matches, beating Beechwood Park 1-0 and The Beacon 2-0 respectively. They then narrowly missed out on being crowned tournament winners, after a losing 2-1 to Chigwell School in the final, with both schools qualifying for the national finals.
Commenting on their success, Dave Herd, Head of Football and Athletics at Bishop’s Stortford College said, “The boys played a fantastic tournament and reaching the finals reflects the committed effort by the whole squad throughout. They deservedly qualified for the national finals, and we look forward to watching them progress in this next month. Well done to all the boys involved.”
