In the Community
Our Invite and Inspire programme was initiated to develop the College as a source of opportunity in the wider community.
Our workshops are carefully curated to inspire creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration. By engaging with specialist staff and facilities, our community can deepen their knowledge of specialist subject areas and engage in a range of experiences.
Places on all workshops are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. If you would like to register your interest and be notified of events we have coming up in our 2024-2025 academic year, please complete the form below.

We believe in sparking curiosity from children’s earliest years. Our Pre-Prep events are designed to create enriching opportunities for children to enjoy learning, connecting with nature and building their confidence. Our first Forest School afternoon, working with Little Hallingbury School, allowed visiting pupils from Year 1 and 2 to immerse themselves in hands-on outdoor learning.
By fostering a love for learning, nurturing confidence, and promoting a positive mindset, we aim to equip pupils with the tools they need for success not only in their academic endeavours but in their wider lives. Workshops are free and open to Year 5 and Year 6 pupils from all local primary schools.
Through experiential learning and positive mentorship with our Sixth Form mentors, we strive to build confidence, empowering visiting pupils to embrace new opportunities. The workshops also contribute to the enhancement of social skills, promoting a supportive community.
Workshops range from painting, music-making, scientific discovery, comic book creation and mathematical codebreaking.
Join us in our art studio to learn how to effectively use acrylic paints. Unleash your imagination, express yourself on canvas, and make new friends who share your passion. With guidance from our specialist art teachers, you will be painting on canvas to create an individual piece of artwork which can be taken home to show friends and family.
A fun and creative session where you will develop ideas to create exciting superheroes and supervillains that could appear in a brand-new comic book. This session will involve you using your imagination and creative skills to develop interesting characters that could appear in the next Marvel comic!
Explore both mathematics and art with our workshop inspired by the legendary M.C. Escher. Discover the mathematical principles that underpin his mind-bending creations and learn how to create your own tessellations – this workshop promises to showcase the fun of mathematical patterns.
Our music workshop gives participants hands-on experience in practical music, both in the sense of performance and composition. The process will centre around group work, in order to give students the opportunity to develop the collaborative skills essential in music making. This practical-first music programme will seek to support the national curriculum for KS2, allowing participants a wider variety of practical opportunities, than can typically be offered in the primary environment.
Our Young Scientists will dive into a world of comprehensive hands-on experimentation. Our programme empowers young scientists to conduct exciting experiments across the scientific spectrum, fostering a love for inquiry-based learning.
Are you a budding writer? This workshop will focus on how you can develop your writing skills and inspire you to make your own Haiku poetry.
Our secondary programme allows pupils from local schools to come together and experience a range of specialist activities. Previous sessions have included printmaking with local artist Julie Arnall and the phenomenal experience of Operating Theatre Live for aspiring medics.
Many of these sessions are initiated and developed by our specialist staff, working alongside staff at other local schools. By doing so, this creates mutually beneficial opportunities for all our young people.
Our wider community programme includes regular lectures, hosted by College staff. With topics such as, ‘But what does the Bank of England actually do?’ the Ferguson Lecture Series provides a range of thought-provoking lectures open to the wider College community. Likewise, our Lent Lecture series includes engaging speakers who inspire and give food for thought as they talk about their experiences and expertise.
In 2024, a photographic workshop, funded by the Arts in East Herts programme, provides an opportunity for scientific and artistic expression.
