In the Community
As we build our outward-looking work, partnerships have formed to provide mutually beneficial opportunities in a wide range of sectors. We believe that as a broad community, we are greater than the sum of our parts.

Bishop’s Stortford Sinfonia is partnering with Bishop’s Stortford College and schools across Hertfordshire and the surrounding area to offer an opportunity for young musicians to come spend a day learning and performing along-side local professional musicians.
This is a new initiative led by the Sinfonia and part of our growing engagement with the local community to help spread awareness and enjoyment of music, to people of all ages.

We are proud to be a founding member of the Bishop’s Stortford Initial Teacher Training (BSITT), a partnership of schools in the Bishop’s Stortford, Sawbridgeworth, and Harlow area who collaborate to provide teacher training for graduates who would like to teach in primary or secondary schools.
Drawing on the individual strengths of each school, who together have a clear understanding of the local need, the organisation aims to maintain excellent education standards in Bishop’s Stortford as the town expands, ensuring continued collaboration for the future benefit of education in our area.
We were thrilled to be selected as a partner for Arts in East Herts, an exciting new initiative to boost participation in the arts and cultural activities. Over 40 arts organisations, from the visual and performing arts and artisan crafts through to galleries, museums and heritage sites, are registered to take part.
The showcase is a key part of the council’s cultural strategy which aims to encourage greater inclusivity and participation in the arts. The funding for Arts in East Herts is provided by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund which is part of the government’s leveling up agenda.
We are excited to strengthen our ties with Grove Cottage, Bishop’s Stortford Mencap, as we strive to formalise our partnership.
Through collaborative efforts, we envision engaging our pupils in volunteering and performance opportunities, organising fundraising initiatives, and facilitating the sharing of facilities to contribute positively to both communities.
Established in 2018, the Bishop’s Stortford Pupil Voice Network was formed by local schools to enable them to share best practice, to discuss common issues, and to provide an opportunity to meet with local councillors and have their voices heard.
2023 saw the launch of the Children’s Voices Community Award, where school and pupil council projects that have impact in their community will be judged and prizes awarded.
