In the Community
All parents and guardians automatically become members of the Friends when their child joins the College, and each class has its own Friends Representative. The interests of all members of the Friends are represented by a committee elected at the AGM held in late September. The committee meets every term to discuss, plan and implement ideas, activities and events. Many parents become involved and enjoy playing an active role in school life, whilst getting to know other families at the college. Events offer a wonderful opportunity to bring parents, staff and Friends of the school together. Over the past couple of years the Friends has successfully hosted a variety of sociable events for parents including a May Ball, cheese and wine evenings, quiz nights and coffee mornings.
They also organise events for the children. Over the past year they have hosted a movie night for the Pre-Prep, discos for Prep School children and Christmas and summer fairs. They also use their connections to convince both Father Christmas and the Easter Bunny to visit the children bearing gifts!
Such events have helped boost their fundraising efforts so that they have been able to fund large projects, including a sunshade sail for the Prep School Library, and outdoor play equipment, balance bikes, and a sensory garden for the Pre-Prep. They have also purchased planters for the outdoor environment, wet play games, and role play equipment among other items for the College.
The Friends would be most grateful if as many families as possible could help, even in a small way, by offering an hour of their time, or donating a cake, toy or raffle prize for one of the forthcoming events.
