Sport, Health, and Fitness
Cooperation, leadership, tolerance and shared values. These are the qualities we promote through our competitive sports programme. Your child will have the chance to participate in fixtures every term, not only in our core sports of rugby, hockey, netball, cricket, and tennis, but also in other sports including football, badminton, and water polo.
Whether experiencing these sports for the first time, or further developing their existing talents, there are many opportunities throughout the year for continued improvement, wide-ranging competitive experiences and just playing for fun.

“All these challenges forced me to raise my game. I never thought I had much ball sense and now I am in two school teams.”
Hockey is played by girls and boys in the autumn and spring terms respectively, and is one of our most successful sports for participation, quality of performance and results.
Your child will represent us in competitive fixtures as a member of one of our numerous teams, learning and developing key skills including teamwork, leadership, communication and more, all whilst enjoying the excitement and fast-paced nature of hockey.
Played during the autumn term, we regularly field many teams for our competitive rugby fixtures covering all levels of ability.
On our impressive, well-maintained pitches, your child will experience the joy of playing rugby, participating in local fixtures, as well as regional and national competitions under the guidance of our expert coaches.
Benefitting from our all-weather surface courts, indoor netball court, and multi-use games area (MUGA), your child will experience the technique, skill and delight in playing netball during the spring term.
With an extensive fixture and tournament list, your child will compete locally and further afield, experiencing netball in a variety of competitive environments.
One of our core sports for boys and girls in the summer term, your child will be given full use of our extensive facilities to develop their expertise, including sessions in our nets, fixtures on our pitches, and training with our bowling cage and machine.
Alongside regular competitive matches, each year our 1st XI team play the Marylebone Cricket Club and participate in tour opportunities to destinations such as South Africa.
Another core sport during the summer term, our tennis programme will see your child have fun, develop key skills, and experience the game individually or as a team, through regular fixtures and tournaments.
Requiring skills such as focus, patience, and mental strength, the abilities learned on the tennis courts naturally translate to the classroom.
Our six lane 25m indoor swimming pool offers your child the chance to learn to swim, develop their technique and skill, and explore other aquatic-based activities. Our teams cover all age groups and participate in regular fixtures, tournaments and galas across the region, including the Bath and Otter Cups held at the London Aquatic Centre.
Whilst in the Prep School your child will participate in our park run representing their house. In the Senior School we have our Pearl and Yeo Cups. Each of these are annual cross-country races where your child will be encouraged, supported and cheered on by their peers and staff. Alongside this, your child will be supported to participate in several local athletics and cross-country races and competitions throughout the year.
An interest in badminton is enriched during our Games programme as one of the options for our Senior School pupils. As well as training and practicing during Games, House badminton competitions and participation in local fixtures provide further opportunities to explore the sport.
Fielding teams in both our Prep and Senior Schools, football is becoming ever popular amongst our pupils. Whilst not a core sport, regular fixtures and training take place throughout the autumn and spring terms on our grass and astroturf floodlight pitches, as well as participation in local, regional, and national championships.
Our Water Polo programme continues to grow with after school training and practice for both our Prep and Senior School pupils. We participate in several friendly fixtures throughout the year, as well as competing in local school leagues.
