Our 1st XI girls’ hockey team have been on a fantastic streak so far this term, being unbeaten in their matches, and last Friday 15 November, stormed to victory at the Tier Three Regional Hockey Championships, winning the title and not only progressing to the National Finals, but becoming the College’s first ever U18 girls’ hockey team to do so.

In what was an extremely long day with five group games, semi-finals and a final, the team showed grit and determination to get out of a hard group with wins against Norwich and Stamford Schools and draws against Royal Hospital School (RHS), Stephen Perse, and Chigwell School. This meant the team finished runners up in the group and played off against the other group winners, Norwich School.

In an end-to-end semi-final game, our 1st XI took the lead through Amelia L only for Norwich School to equalise within a minute. With five minutes remaining, a long through ball found Lulu C in the D and she had the composure and skill to expertly lob the keeper from the top of the D – a quite incredible goal!

The final saw the team pitted against New Hall School, securing a 2-0 win and earning the title of Regional Champions. The jubilation at the final whistle showed just what it meant to the team and the College is incredibly proud of them and our staff.
