Revealed in the 10th anniversary edition of The Cricketer’s Schools Guide 2025, Bishop’s Stortford College has once again been named as one of the UK’s Top 100 Senior Schools and Top 50 Prep/Junior Schools for cricket.
This year’s guide includes entries from both state and independent schools with entries judged against an extensive set of criteria including a compelling commitment to cricket in the school’s curriculum, facilities, fixtures programmes, and coaching.
The Cricketer magazine editor, Huw Turbervill, said “the 10th anniversary of this guide recognises the fantastic cricket programmes that exist in school curricula up and down the country. One of the most phenomenal things about the last decade is seeing cricket usurp rounders as the sport for girls.”
Director of Sport, Health, and Fitness at Bishop’s Stortford College, Evan Stewart, commented, “We are so proud to once again be named as not only one of the UK’s top Senior Schools for cricket, but also a top Prep School. Amongst many entries, it is wonderful to once again be recognised for our commitment to our cricket programme, providing pupils with the best facilities, teaching, and opportunities to develop their game.
Stewart continues, “Our competitive cricket programme, led by Dave Hughes, ensures all pupils, whatever their level or ability, experience enjoyment, success, and develop the confidence to try again in sport. Girls’ cricket has developed rapidly over the last few years and last summer we were thrilled for our first ever 1st XI girls’ cricket team to play the cricket season at our Doggart Pavilion.”
