A week after very good A Level results, our campus is once again full of celebration as pupils receive outstanding GCSE results; surpassing the results from last year and placing a new gold standard of high achievement for the College.

With 26% of all grades awarded the highest possible grade 9 (A*) and more than half of all grades being 9–8 (A*), we continue to stretch able pupils to set their goals and ambitions highly. 42 pupils achieved 10 or more grades between 9-7 (A*-A) and become members of our prestigious ‘10 Club’.

The College is already nationally renowned for achieving academic excellence through our holistic, caring ethos that supports every pupil to succeed. This year, 92% of all pupils achieved at least one grade 9-8 (A*), which reflects our approach to enabling every pupil to find their passion and support them in achieving the best possible grades in whatever subject they enjoy most.

Mr John Maguire, College Head, commented “In order to achieve great success at A level, pupils need a secure knowledge base on which to build their learning. This year’s GCSE results have given the perfect platform to springboard future achievements in our thriving Sixth Form. Our Upper Fifth pupils have worked exceptionally hard to secure such fantastic results and should be proud of their achievements. I am excited to see how they continue to flourish in our Sixth Form and go on to even greater success.”

“The College continues to add considerable value to every pupil, helping to ensure they achieve high grades. This year’s results are once again notable for an incredibly high value-added score, as assessed independently and measured by the Centre for Evaluation and Monitoring.”

GCSE results are consistently strong across all academic departments. The core subjects achieved a staggeringly high percentage of 9-7 grades (A*-A):

  • English Language and Literature both 90%
  • Mathematics 74%
  • Biology 78%
  • Chemistry 65%
  • Physics 66%

Academic enrichment and the achievement of 9-7 grades (A*-A) is equally noticeable in other subjects with Design Technology 72% and Art 71%.

This year’s language results are also superb, with Spanish (82% grades 9-7/A*-A), French (76% grades 9-7/A*-A), Latin (73% grades 9-7/A*-A) and German (65 % grades 9-7/A*-A), reflecting talented linguists being nurtured within the College.
