From Sunday 27 October to Thursday 31 October, the College welcomed MM Swim Inspiration Elite (MMSI) to its campus, joined by Team GB Olympic swimmers Abbie Wood, Alex Cohoon, and Medi Harris.
Founded by double Olympian and six-time Commonwealth Games medallist Mel Marshall MBE in 2013, MMSI motivates and inspires competitive young swimmers aged 9-16 through a series of swimming experiences and residential camps.
Hosted at the College, the residential provided 72 young athletes with the opportunity to experience what elite level swimming preparation involves and how they can develop a forward-thinking mindset whilst learning from professionals in the sport. Whilst staying in two of the College’s boarding houses, the week included workshops on prehabilitation, mobility and injury prevention, nutrition, psychology, strength and conditioning, in-pool training, as well as talks from Olympic and national level swimmers.
Joined by Olympians and Team GB swimmers Abbie Wood, Alex Cohoon, and Medi Harris throughout the week, the MMSI swimmers were inspired by the athletes’ swimming careers, and the hard work and commitment it takes to reach elite level. Medi, who made her Olympic debut recently at the Paris Olympics 2024, also joined the swimmers in the College pool to demonstrate several of her favourite drills. MMSI Founder, Mel Marshall, commented, “What a venue, what a team, what a vibe!”
Commenting on their experience, the team at MMSI said “It was amazing to finally see MM Swim Inspiration Elite come to life here at Bishop’s Stortford College. The swimmers had an amazing week and left feeling more knowledgeable and with tools they can now go and implement on the rest of their swimming journey!”
The College looks forward to hosting more residentials in the future.
