Pupils Volunteer for Intergenerational Initiative

30 Prep School pupils have volunteered their time to sign up for a ten week intergenerational project, Care Home Friends. 

In mid-April, the Prep School was contacted by local MP, Julie Marsden, asking if any pupils would be willing to join the challenge and become a Care Home Friend. The 10-week programme encourages children to think about different ages and generations, learn about care homes and the people who live and work in them, and understand how they can build relationships in the local community. 

Each week will provide a new activity for pupils to complete at home. Last week, which was Global Intergenerational Week, pupils took part in their first meeting with staff which provided an opportunity for discussion, becoming familiar with their first activity and thoughtful consideration of the advantages of getting older.
