We’re celebrating after our U13A team was crowned Independent Association of Prep Schools (IAPS) Regional Hockey Champions following a successful half term for girls’ hockey here at the College.
Held in Eastbourne on Monday 14 October, the IAPS south regional tournament saw our U13A team secure two wins and one draw in the group stage, before winning both their quarter and semi-final matches 4-0 against Holmwood House School and St Edmund’s College respectively. The final saw the team face Cranleigh School, whom they had drawn 2-2 against in the group stages. The match was once again evenly contested with another 2-2 draw, leading to penalty strokes. Our U13s claimed the win, being crowned IAPS U13 Regional Champions, and secured their place in the national finals.
Success continued for our U13A team when they were crowned Hertfordshire County Champions three days later on Thursday 17 October, having won all four of their matches against Heath Mount School, Queenswood School, Dame Alice Owen’s School, and Haileybury without conceding a goal.
These victories culminated a successful half term for girls’ hockey with our 1st XI team also being crowned Tier 3 England Hockey County Champions, U14A team crowned Tier 2 England Hockey County Champions, and U16s securing their place at the Tier 3 England Hockey regional finals.
Director of Sport, Health and Fitness, Evan Stewart, commented, “We are incredibly proud of all our pupils for a fantastic hockey season so far. These victories are testament to our pupils’ hard work and effort during their training and games sessions. With our 1st XI and U14A teams also being unbeaten so far this season, we look forward to the second half of term and wish our teams all the best at their respective regional and national finals.”
