On Thursday 5 December, our U14 girls’ hockey team was crowned Tier Two East Regional Champions, confirming their place in the National Finals in February.
The team dominated their group stages, scoring a total of 20 goals and conceding none. Their victories included impressive 3-0 and 6-0 wins against Brentwood School and Ipswich High School, a 6-0 win over Norwich School, a 4-0 triumph against Bedford Modern School, and a narrow 1-0 win against The Stephen Perse.
Securing their place in the semi-final, the team face Saffron Walden County High School in a nail-biting encounter. The game ended 0-0 after a tense final minute, proceeding to penalty shuffles to determine the winner. Three converted shuffles and two saves from our goalkeeper secured a 3-1 win, sending the team into the final.
Up against Chelmsford County High School, the rain poured down in a 15-minute battle for a place in the National Finals. The team gave it their all, showing incredible determination and skill. Their hard work paid off as they scored three clinical goals, emerging victorious and earning their well-deserved spot at the National Finals.
Our U14’s now join our 1st XI team as National Finalists, with both teams currently being undefeated for the entire season with just one match each left to play this weekend.
Congratulations to both teams on these superb achievements and we wish them the best of luck for the National Finals in the spring term!
